Lent, pt. 35

In a few days, Monday the 15th, I will celebrate my anniversary with my wife.

It will be 19 years.

Wow, it is hard to think that many years have gone by already.

I found a couple of rather interesting lists regarding gifts for anniversaries.

Although neither of the lists had 19 years, I did find them amusing.

The lists that did show 19 years, mentioned a common theme.

Bronze.

What?!?!

My question, then, is what in the world do I get my wife, whom I love, a gift that somehow relates to something bronze?

Who made these lists anyway?

To my wife, I love you and thank you for 19 years. May God give us 19+ more!

Lent, pt. 34

Ready for this? I am attempting some poetry!

They go out,

But never return.

All things affected,

Sometimes hurting,

Other times, healing.

Words are powerful. And once we speak them, they cannot be pulled back.

I heard many words today. Honestly, most of them were not positive.

It really made me think how strong our words can be.

I also listened to many good words today. They felt refreshing.

words

Isaiah 55:11 speaks about words going out of God’s mouth and accomplishing His plan.

I softens my heart to know that God never speaks anything that is harmful or wrong.

There are times when His words are not welcome but they are always needed.

Read God’s word today. You can’t go wrong.

And by the way, I think my poem really stinks.

Lent, pt. 33

I had a cool conversation today.

While getting my phone updated, I was chatting with the employee.

cellphones

He and I hit it off.

And then the conversation went deep.

We discussed topics ranging from death to God’s sovereignty to parenting.

But it was also a great time! I felt like God orchestrated the whole thing.

We both agreed that at the end of the day, God is God.

Things happen in life that may confuse us. We don’t always know why.

But God is God.

Another thing we agreed on is that God does not need to be questioned.

He is God and we are not. Trust that fact.

God is God.

So next time you get your phone updated, stand in line at a store, or wait for your coffee, God may have an encounter designed for you.

Maybe, just maybe, it could be just what you (or the other person) needs.

Lent, pt. 32

Who am I?

What is my identity?

Christ living in me is who I really am.

I am not defined by…

clothes.

jobs.

relationships.

dollars.

jokes.

appearances.

My life is found only in Jesus.

These thoughts of identity have been circling in my mind all day.

Jesus is my identity.

Who are you?
