Lent, pt. 30

Today was normal. As in nothing out of the ordinary took place.

At least that I could see.

I am almost finished with a book entitled, Edge of Eternity by Randy Alcorn.

edge of eternity

A man wakes up in a different world. He is on a journey. Along this journey, he meets various other travelers. There are also moments in which he see into the spirit world.

This spirit world never sleeps. There are battles raging at all times.

However, these battles are fought over souls, not silver.

Over people’s’ souls, not precious gems.

Despite being a fiction novel, there are biblical truths hidden in the words.

Even though today was normal, there was an unseen fight taking place.

These invisible conflicts happen simultaneously as we live our lives.

Even our choices can affect the tide of battle.

Every time I open my bible, the heavenlies are affected.

Whenever I pray, the angelic forces are bolstered.

I can change eternity.

So can you.

We are 3/4 finished with Lent. Stay strong my friend.

I leave you with this thought:

Everything you do, not only affects you, but those, seen and unseen, around you.

Lent, pt. 28

Yesterday…was April Fools’ Day. I will not be the fool!

But He gives more grace…

Grace. Such a great thing. Amazing, actually.

Over my years, I have experienced three types of grace.

The first grace is, what I call, stopping grace.

God loves us so much that He does not want anyone going to hell. See II Peter 3:9

His grace stops people from being condemned to eternal separation. He is über patient.

Just waking up and breathing each morning is witness of this grace.

Whether you read this tonight or in the morning, thank God for His grace.

Without it, we would all be gone.

Sorry if this seems somewhat bleak. No worries, it gets better.

Tomorrow, I will tell you about His saving grace. How sweet it is!

Lent, pt. 27

Happy April Fools’ Day!

To this day, I still don’t know why it is named April Fools’ Day. Probably never will.

Fools’ Day.

Are you a fool? Am I?

Psalm 14:1 says, “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.'”

fool

I don’t know about you but I never want that to be a description of my life.

I think there is a God. This same God loves me. Loves me in such a way that I am compelled to live for Him.

I know I can’t earn this affection from Him. I just need to accept it.

Take stock of your life right now. Let His love fill your heart. He wants to be near you.

Will you be foolish and ignore Him?

I hope not. If you have been turning your back on God, no worries. He gives more grace.

But more about that tomorrow.

Lent, pt. 26

I broke out a new game tonight. Everdell.

Here is a picture of a game setup for three players.

everdell

It is a beautiful game. This is actually the collector’s edition. I traded an unwanted game for this one.

And then I started playing. Against myself.

Yep, you read that correctly. I played a three player game by myself.

Me, myself, and I. This is how I learn how to play a game.

And no, this is not the first time I have done this.

Although I enjoy playing games against myself, it was not meant to be played alone.

That is not how board games work. They are designed to be a shared experience.

So is church.

I love going to church. It helps me live the life God has created for me.

During Lent, try going to church a few times.

Who knows, maybe you will meet God in a new way.
